Search Engines

Using a search engine like Google is now one of the prime ways of finding information. But will your website be found?

If you have gone to the bother of creating a website, you will want people to see it. Therefore it makes sense to make your website as visible as possible to search engines. This is best achieved through good website design practice.

Relevant content - The text in your webpages should reflect the nature of the website. If your website is about health and fitness, phrases like "health", "fitness", "vitality" and "wellness" should be in the page text.

Page design - Web pages are written in either html or xhtml. If these pages are standards compliant (fully meeting the rules of the language) with the content text as near the beginning of the page as possible, the pages will be easier to read by the search engines.

Website size - If a website has plenty of pages, the search engines will assume it contains more useful information. So making sure your site has plenty of useful content and spreading it over numerous pages is helpful.

Incoming links - No one will link to a website that is of no use, so search engines assume that incoming links to your website are a vote for it's credibility.

We can help by providing incoming links and by announcing your website with a linked Press Release.

As part of building your website we will abide by these principles to give you the best possible search results. We will also periodically review the performance of the website as part of your support agreement.

Some businesses will make huge claims that they can guarantee you top results on Google or other search engines. Treat their claims with caution and read what Google have to say about such practices.
